The pupils of Flint Street Primary school perform their annual nativity play. As we see what goes on before and backstage of the actual performance, the children give insights into the state of their own lives and those of their parents. Whenever the nativity story reaches a carol, the children sing what they are thinking rather than the normal carol lyrics. Performed by adult actors on a scaled up set, the piece turns on its head in the final scene when we see the parents, about whom their own kids have spilled the beans, reacting to the apocalyptic climax.
